Kiara Ijzendoorn was all prepped up for a venturesome family vacation to Crete, Greece. But little did she know, it’s going to change two lives forever!
The ongoing fun vacation had a turning point when Kiara spotted a dog with a huge bump on the back. The bump unraveled the broken spine and the ongoing pain he has been going through.Being critically deformed, he even struggled to walk.
The sight piqued Kiara’s curiosity and she followed the dog only to find out he lives alone in an abandoned barn. This made her heart sink a little deeper.
“His leg was totally paralyzed. He had a big bump on his back that was his broken spine,” Ijzendoorn told The Dodo. “We stopped the car so he could crawl out of the way, but he looked like a heap.”
Kiara and the dog bonded over and she named him ‘Fos’ which translates to ‘shining’ in Greek. Apart from visiting his injured friend every day for the rest of her vacation, she just couldn’t let Fos stay alone anymore. Thus she decided to take him along.
She took the dog to a rescue clinic to complete his adoption formalities. Analyzing his condition, the doctors suggested that he had obviously been abused and could have died of the injuries if hadn’t been rescued on time.
Ijzendoorn promised him a better life and there wasn’t a single day she didn’t live up to it. Fos now enjoys with his new family in Holland. His injuries have been healing, thanks to all the doses of love and care!
“He walks better now and his bump isn’t as big,” Ijzendoorn said. “He is scared of older men and some cats.
This vacation turned out to be a major life change for him as well as Kiara. After all, dogs deserve all the love on this planet.
